So I did have my shirt burning ceremony in the backyard and we ate the banana bread which was WONDERFUL! One year as a missionary. I've changed a lot. I think they are subtle changes mostly, but deep ones? You see the world differently. You LOVE studying the scriptures. You live the Gospel differently. You understand the Gospel differently. You have to learn how to rely on the Atonement every day. Your heart changes if you let it. I recently flipped to the beginning of my journal the other day and saw when | had been lamenting about not enjoying being a missionary. Well, I can proudly say I got over that :) I like teaching the Gospel. I like teaching it in Spanish! I love seeing how the Spirit touches people. I love seeing their eyes open and their horizons broaden, and their desires refine. Or maybe they find what they have been searching for.
I still don't like walking in the sun and dust all day, or eating boiled green bananas or chicken hearts. But that doesn't matter.
We have had some cool lessons in the last week. We are teaching Fredis a 70 something year old man, /and he's progressing like no one else, but he's moving in a couple weeks :( I'm going to miss him.
Well, have a good week everyone, till next time,
Hna. J.
