Glad you all are not dying any more, and apparently Bro. Wing too! I will be skyping on Christmas, I´m pretty sure, but no I don´t have any further details, and I will try to know more by next Wednesday. Wow, also tell Sis. Boblet thanks, y que ella es tan generosa! Also, general info, I saw Elder Gothard again yesterday, and he was asking about Alex, and said he has not emailed him back. I said ALEX HAS NOT EMAILED ME EITHER. Hint hint. Elder Gothard also shared his testimony in our zone conference, and I enjoyed it very much.
Well, new transfer and new companion. Our lessons have been really great. I think I´m doing better than I had been before. I am learning how to adjust to a different style of teaching, and it is humbling. For example: we have a family that is progressing, meaning they are praying and reading the scriptures and pamphlets, but it´s only been two weeks-ish since we´ve been working with them, and they haven´t gone to church because the baby is sick. Hna. Marrero insisted that we tell them that they could recieve a presithood blessing of health, but I had reservations. I thought it is much to early to present them with that test of faith, because only in faith can it work. But we went over to our appointment with Radelki, the Young Men´s president, and she insited we could just explain to them that they would need to have the faith for it to work. I decided to just let it go, and then we would talk about the preisthood as a key part of the restored gospel.
So Radelki offered them the blessing and explained it a bit. And they said of course they would like it for the baby, and the mother said she was feeling bad too and would like one. And in the moment I felt an assurance of the power of the preisthood, and I quit worrying, because I do have a testimony of it. And was a great privilige to share that moment with them, and then teach them about the presithood. I even remembered where in the New Testament I had seen, in passing, a description of healing blessings with consecrated oil from weeks ago (James 5). and used that in talking about how the church now is organized and carried out in the same way as in the time of Christ. Our next visit, the wife explained that as the blessing was pronounced, her headache immediately disappeared. It is very interesting to witness and hear about the simple, powerful faith that people have here, and how it opens up the way for miracles. I was very glad Hna. Marrero had the conviction to insist that we offer a blessing for them.
I have had several other humbling experiences this week, but those would take way too long to write, and I don´t think I could convey them very well over email. Needless to say, this week´s theme is BE THOU HUMBLE. I am really learning how to apply the Atonement to my life now. What a relief it is to have that cleansing and enabling power.
There are lots of things I wish I could tell you guys, but there simply isn´t time! I am growing a lot, and that means growing pains. But like I said, thankfully we have Jesus Christ to help us with the hard things.
Love to everyone,
Hna. Jennings
