LAURYN IS GOING ON A MISSION?!?! That is so exciting!! TO POLAND?! And Brody too!!!! This makes me so happy!!!! When are they leaving?! I'm so excited for them!!!!!!!
In other news, yes Hurricane Erica 'passed by' us on Friday. They made us stay in our houses all day. We got to see some cool clouds and it rained for maybe a combined 15 minutes. But I decided to have the attitude that we would be blessed for being obedient to our leaders and missing a perfectly lovely proselyting day. I feel like we have been blessed a lot lately. We had made a goal of meeting some one new every day, and we've been meeting tons of new people everyday. I feel like the Lord is helping us find people.
We spent all of Monday just looking for our references and we found almost all of them! This is miraculous because Dominican 'directions' do anything but direct you to where you want to go, and addresses are virtually non-existent in this country. We found the brother-in-law of one of the menos activas we teach, and turns out he's American. And was speaking English to us. It was incredibly dificult to talk to him about the Restoration pamphlet in English. You explain things in Spanish differently than you do in English, it sounded so awkward translating explanations from Spanish into English. He thought it was funny and Hna. Ririe was on cloud 9 talking to someone in English. It was also a cool experience because he started out saying, "well, maybe my wife is interested in listening to you, but I'm not." and at the end he asked for a Book of Mormon in English, and was skimming the pamphlet. We've got a return appointment too! So apparently we said something right amongst all of the things like, "...the elders...los misioneros barrones...uh, the male missionaries?..." and "..los profetas, uh, prophets in ancient times?..." and" don't remember that word in English... but..." So yeah, a cool experience.
