Thoughts about reading the New Testament:
Well, now I don't really worry much about Hna. Ririe, I mostly worry about the work, and how to get it done properly. I haven't had a lot of success in the mission in the way we mortals consider success, ie baptisms. But my patriarchal blessing says I will be successful in the mission "in the Lord's way." I've been trying to figure out what that is. In becoming more humble and a better disciple of Christ, I've done that. In giving Hna. S. another transfer in the mission I was successful. In helping 2 amazing converts get to baptism, I've been successful. We found a lot of amazing people and planted gospel seeds. 3 of my menos activos in Navarrete are now active. Every good thing we do is a success. But I also want to make sure that I'm not justifying for not having progressing investigators.... This is the struggle of my life: fluctuating between being too hard on myself, and not pushing myself hard enough. Well, I do know that I feel the Spirit in our lessons, and I am really trying. And Hna. Ririe is great about giving fresh perspectives and helping us make good goals.
I enjoyed your family updates. Glad Laney's skin grafts were successful, that Afton and Dallin go to Weird Al concerts, and that school/work is going well. Also tell Afton to write me about her man.
Take care everyone!
Love,
Hna. J.
- Look things up in Jesus the Christ by Elder Talmage. That helped me understand the Gospels a lot better. I think it is more useful than the New Testament Institute manual (for that part at least).
- Also read ALL the Joseph Smith translation notes, even the ones in the back, because everything makes a lot more sense.
